If I WAS Tessa? Jem. But I'm not. She is, and Will was who she needed for that lifetime bound to humanity. And Jem is who she needs to share the burden of centuries with, at least for the time he can. She truly loved them both, and they each other. They're too much a part of each other to hate any of them and still love the others, or to diminish one love in favor of the others. The entire series is a clear rejection of "Teams" and "Endgames", or any notion that love is a competition. That's what made it the only love triangle I've ever enjoyed.

No one would be happier with the epilogue of Clockwork Princess than Will.

Could be. Since he and Magnus are my favorite characters, I hope they survive. It is much more likely though that Magnus will figure out a way to loose his immortality than Alec will become immortal.

Not an Issy fan myself, I still think she will also live. However one or both of her parents ill die by the end.<br />

<br />I think there is a good chance that they can at least be turned into Mundanes and purged of the evil taint. Like someone else in this post said: this is not a horror story. It may not end on a happy note (since we know at least one main character will die), however it will end on a hopeful one. At the end of Clockwork Princess, Jem hints at the changes being sad but extraordinary. This leads me to belive that although there will be tragedy, in the end the shadowhunter world will be better for it.

Plus, this is a young adult book, so most of the characters should survive.

There is brotherly affection between them, but Jace appears to be more selfish than Will with most of the choices he makes. Whereas Will and Jem took care of each other, Alec spends most of his time taking care of and watching out for Jace.

Jonathon does seem to want to burn down the world whereas Valentine wanted to purify it to his satisfaction. I too am interested in how Cassandra kills him off. I think it will either be Clary or Jace, or he will make a mistake that causes Lilith to end him. I am also interested in how Clary comes up with the rune for Angel Wing, and what the crosses on Simon's hands turn out to be for.<br />

Wrong, it is plainly in the name of the book and genre of the stories. Holy Fire doesn't redeem anything, it burns away things.

I find commonly by fans and by clips from the new book, that Jace may control Holy Fire, do you know how dangerous that is? Jace has turned himself, by being saved with Glorious, into a ticking A-Bomb.

Angels don't purify anything, it isn't their nature. Angels make Shadowhunters seem like recruits, in military comparison. Read Genesis? All that Angels do in that book is destroy, drench entire territories in Holy Fire, and destroy more.

The City of Heavenly Fire won't be about Redemption, it will be about endings and destruction, a lot is going be destroyed in that book, lives ruined, dreams crushed, people dying. That is the dictated theme of the book, what the suspense has been leading up to!

And Magnus, no matter how much he may complain how lonly living forever is, loves being Immortal. He wouldn't give that up even if God asked nicely and promised to give it back. No sane person would give up being immortal!

In fact, Alec doing what he did was a single reason of why Magnus broke up with him, there are others. Another reason, is that Magnus feels what is coming and wants to get out while he can, he's not stupid enough to stand around with the Mother of Warlocks on one side and Holy Fire on the other. Thank you.

Agreed. Unlikely Magnus could give his immortality away to anyone, but he could just give it up in general. And yes he would for Alec.<br />

Jem will probably be cured somehow through Jace. CoHF seems to me to be centered around the idea of redemption. The story will prabably focus on this for all characters who "fell from grace' in the last two books: Alec, Simon (who lead to Maureen being turned), and Jace (for unwillingly supported Sebastian). The fact that Jace has heavenly fire coursing through him should become important in others ways than just defeating Sebastian.

Samael is a rare case, he is described as an Angel of both Good and Evil, as late as Moses he is described as existing in Heaven, but at the same time he was slain while with Lilith years before that.

Like its said, Samael is a rare case capable of being both an Angel and a Demon, both Good and Evil. Personally, I think that so long as Samael doesn't genocide all of humanity or blow up the Earth, Heaven will let him do whatever he wants.

Tessa quickly picks up a tree branch as uses the parrying lessons she learnt from Gabriel to avoid death, and Will comes in and cuts the automaton down. The automaton gives them a warning from the magister to "...cease your investigation. The past is the past. Leave Mortman's buried, or [the Herondales] will pay the price. Do not approach or warn them. If you do, they will be destroyed." Will et al. take the carriage back to York station, and then the train back to London. On the train ride, Tessa tries to thank will for the kindess that he had shown her on the previous night (when she had a nightmare and he tried to comfort her), however Will simply replied " There was no last night" . Tessa then tells Jem and Will that she snatched one of Aloysius' buttons whilst they stayed at the York Institute so that she may Change into him at her leisure. When the train arrives at Kings Cross station, Will dashes off the train and runs to Lady Belcourt's home (now the home to Magnus Bane).

Will, horrified and filled with grief, fled his home and joined the Shadowhunters to prevent his family from the same fate that Ella had suffered. Since his arrival at the Institute of London, he's been pushing people away because of this curse; however, he's in love with Tessa now, and is tired of living a lie, pretending to be a man who drinks and involves himself with whores. Magnus then asks why he allows Jem's affections, to which Will replies that Jem is dying anyway, and since Ella's death was swift, perhaps Jem will get a good death from his affiliation with Will. Will subsequently requests the Magnus open a portal to the Demon world and send Will there, to which Magnus refuses and Will leaves the house, angry.

When she changes back to herself, she notices the face of Mrs. Dark in the courtyard, but when she checks again, the figure is gone.

Jem and Tessa run to Will's room, where Tessa discovers that Will has taken the letters which she had written during her horrid stay at the Dark Sisters' home (this changes Tessa's opinion of Will, offended that he would invade her privacy and confused as to why he wanted to read them), and Jem finds a family dagger of Will's as well as a receipt for the Yin Fen - which Will buys for Jem - Jem is surprised to find that the drug costs alot more than the money he's given Will (this also changes Tessa's opinion of Will). Using the dagger, Jem tracks Will's location to the East end of London.

She walks into Jem's room, and see him playing violently, Jem then breaks down. "What does any of it matter? I'm dying. I won't outlast the decade. What does it matter if the violin goes before I do?". Jem then reveals that he's angry that Will has taken pleasure in something that is killing him (taking drugs for fun, all the while, Jem's dying from drugs). Tessa tries to calm Jem down, but Jem states "I tell myself he's better than he makes himself out to be, but, Tessa, what if he isn't? I have always thought, if I had nothing else, I had Will. If I have done nothing else that made my life matter, I have always stood by him. But perhaps I shouldn't." Tessa then sees that Jem is running a fever, and puts her hand on his head to check, to which Jem flinches away. Jem then reveals that he feels that Tessa has never seen him as a man, but always as a patient; when she looks at him, its to see how much Yin Fen he's taken, when she takes his hand, its to check his pulse. In the fierce discussion, they draw closer to each other, and they kiss passionately, for a while, until Tessa accidently knocks off the box holding the Yin Fen, smashing the box and spreading the powder all over the ground. Jem then asks Tessa to go back to her room, while he cleans. As she slips back to her room, she notices through the crack of her door, that Jessamine is sneaking out of the building, dressed as a man.

Gabriel is obviously angry, but Gideon seems to not care. Gabriel talks about how Charlotte is inept and when his father runs the institute, everything will be better; when he brings up the idea that Henry doesn't love Charlotte because no one could love her, Sophie slaps him across the face. Gabriel is angry and storms out of the institute, Tessa goes to talk to him, but Gabriel has already left, taking his carriage. Will follows Tessa out of the training room, and they have a discussion about how inconsiderate Will has been to Jem. Will appears to be truly sorry for what he's done to Jem, and tells Tessa that even though people think he doens't care about the opinons of others, in reality, he cares deeply, so much so that it drives him mad. Their conversation is interuptted by Woolsey Scott and Charlotte, who enter the room.
