Just giving you a heads up. I will be removing the category Shadowhunters indefinitely. Cassie has explained that Shadowhunter and Nephilim is pretty much synonymous, just that Nephilim is the term derived from the one in the bible. :)
Hi Atticus. May I ask you to please refrain from adding the categories "Clave members" and "Enclave" for now? It seems sort of repetitive as Enclave (along with Conclave if I'm not mistaken) is pretty much also the Clave, just a local term for the Clave in London (NY for Conclave). Then, before I started removing them this past month, every Shadowhunter seemed to have the "Clave members" category, making its purpose quite vague, because if every Shadowhunters/Nephilim is a member of the Clave, then it would just be repetitive. :) No worries, I am currently in the process of having a contact try to ask Cassie about it. I'm also trying to reach her on Tumblr. Hopefully, we'll get an answer soon enough. :) Hope you don't think too much of this. I just really want the wiki to be organized.
UPDATE: Although I do thin the Enclave or Conclave category would make sense (IF we decide to not keep "Clave members") so we can differentiate which branch they belong to. Then maybe eventually, we'll get more terms referring to the Claves in other cities. But for now, let's refrain from it, okay? :)
Ithink that Clave Members is actually a really important category. Think about it, you can be a Shadowhunters but not a member of the Clave. Jocelyn, Valentine, and Jessamine are prime examples. Tey are Shadowhunters, but they do not sit in Clave meetings, willingly, and they choose to either live in the mundane world or fight against Shadowhunters. Edmund Herondale's another example. He is a Shadowhunters, ou can't not be, but he isn't a member of the Clave.
Exactly! But last month, almost all Shadowhunters, even the kids had the Clave members category, which I found very weird, prompting me to just remove all of them from the category temporarily.
Alright, so we have to define what a Clave Member is. How about, any adult Shadowhunter in good standing with the Clave. By that I mean any Shadowhunter that is allowed to attend Council meetings and vote on decisions and are over the age of eighteen. That way no children are in the category, though maybe is should be anyone who has received marks because that's what it sounded like in the cp2 prologue, and we can note who is in good standing.
Well so long as we define what they mean, enclave meaning London and Conclave meaning New York, I think that it's fine. BTW, when can we start adding serious spoilers. I think we've waited long enough, and why not now.
Thanks for the notice. Should we change character pages to their married names: Cecily Lightwood, Tessa Herondale, Sophie Lightwood? That way it is current with the info given.
Well, generally, our character page titles are the names they are most commonly referred to, like Clary Fray, or Jace Lightwood, which is obviously not their real and full names. Maybe we can just put the full name, with their marital ones, on the article and the infobox.
But if the character is minor and not often referred to anyway, we can change that.
Alright, but I was thinking. I just looked at your poll, love it by the way, and I was wondering, how awesome would it be to read about Shadowhunters in the 20s? Can you just imagine them in jazz bars and dancing e nit away while killing demons? But if she did I would probably want new families: not fairchilds or herondales or anything like that. What about you?
Oh my god, thank you for putting that mental image in my head, that would be wonderful :))) True, I would love to meet new Shadowhunters. But I bet she'll think of new ways to connect them to the TDA characters or something.
By the way, could you write your definition of the Clave here, next to the first sentence? I'll fix it up later, I'm considering splitting the Clave and Covenant to its separate pages soon.
True. I am a sucker for the beauty of period films, so visualizing it is just awesome.
Thanks for clearing that up. But now, it got me thinking.. it's been a while since I've read TMI and I don't remember the specifics, but it was the Clave for which Clary drew the symbol of Downworlders and Shadowhunters combined, right? The one with the 4 Cs if I'm not mistaken, cuz I think I was the one who wrote the Clave and Covenant page. Now, I wanna be sure, but was that really the Clave, or another entity entirely? Cuz now I think they have some Downworlder members (not Tessa, yeah, cuz she was from back then. As in the current ones, like Luke, and the others). If so, could you add that to the definition? I'll search for it and fix it up later. Lol I can't remember anything right anymore..
We cannot keep doing this; working on this wiki and expecting the community to conform with the rules if we can't even work our issues out. We are admins, hence we should collaborate for the improvement of this wiki, not work as individuals. Tell me your views and we can talk about it.
About your blog post — I was the one that started on Clary's page and added the subheadings, also on some other pages, but never got around to completing the bio summaries. I think this was around the time I left. Now, it's been a while since I've read the books so I've decided to focus on clean-up temporarily. But I have also summarized some of the details on the character pages, particularly Simon's, if I'm not mistaken, 'cuz the summaries were too detailed.
I always find it funny when people continue a conversation when there's nothing left to say. You've made your point and I've made mine(for the record I agree that we need to focus on making the pages better). Now how about this, we each make a list of the categories and pages that we feel need to be made/expanded on and then we'll post it to request users to focus on. But if we keep arguing back and forth then none of our ideas will work out.
I simply wanted things to become less hostile. I have had a pretty good relationship with the past admins I have worked with and rarely had problems. It seems this will continue to be an issue.
I have discussed your demotion with a Wikia staff and the other admins on the wiki. That certainly wasn't an issue. Now I have nothing left to say. Hope you still find it funny. ;)
Actually, I do. But aside from that I was only trying to work together. You're the one that started to get all upset about everything. I never had a problem before this. Maybe, and this is just a suggestion (don't get my admin ship taken away for it!) you should be open to other people's ideas.
I am. You were just very rude about opening up. I have always preferred having someone to discuss things with. This wiki needs improvement, and usually I can agree with other admins on something. I suppose the issue came from me trying to tell you and explain to you what we need, and you simply just going against it. As you can see, I have even discussed changes we could do with a non-admin because she actually approached me about the policies.
The way I'm seeing it right now, you don't need admin rights to help; no one else does. If you need anything done that requires admin rights, you can approach us admins.
Nope. My main reason is that we've clashed, and we can't seem to work together. Also, I have tried reaching out to you a bunch of times and the only time you seem to be responding is now that you got your rights removed. Besides, like I said, I have discussed it with the other admins. :)
I've seen one attempt to reach out by you. But I'm over it. Here's the thing, I think you're Atkins things way too seriously here. I didn't shoot down your ideas, I never even commented on them because you never brought them up to me. I'm more than happy to work with you if you give me some rope.
That's the thing. You were the one with the issue about my ideas, so you should have brought them up to me.
If I wanted to remove your rights because I did not want to work with you, I would have done it long ago while you were inactive, but as you can see, I waited for you to come back, hoping we could also work together.
Look, I'm done. I have nothing more to say. I would rather work alone temporarily and wait for my other fellow admins to return, and I still am collaborating on fb chat with Electra, or appoint a new one someday, than force myself to work with someone who could only speak with me decently because his rights have been removed. As I've said, I've discussed this with another staff and apparently, bureaucrats can remove admin rights as they see fit.
You're wrong about that. "A bureaucrat can make other users into bureaucrats or administrators on their own wiki. However, they are not currently able to remove admin access from any user." By the way, I never had any problems with your ideas. I think you really have it confused. I did absolutely nothing wrong. You never told me your ideas and I never wondered about what you were doing. I was just happy to be doing some editing and looking up info on my favorite book series. By the way, I didn't notice my demotion until you pointed it out to me about four replies ago.
I'm to being polite because of that. I'm being polite because being 'hostile' as you call it apparently isn't getting things done.
That's outdated. It says we cannot as in years ago, it was not possible. But it does not say we may not, as in now we may because we can.
If you're happy with that then, like I said, you do not need admin rights to help. Proceed with editing as you please. If you need anything deleted, just tell me since, well obviously, that's one of the main features an admin has access to. What do you normally use your admin rights for, anyway?
Atticus, I have removed those categories for a reason.. I have asked everyone (on the community message) to give adding categories a break temporarily.. this goes for everyone, so please do not put those categories back.. I am still sorting things out. A lot of categories seem to similar. Clave Members = Nephilim = Shadowhunters. It's like crowding all the pages into all these categories, the categories become pointless.
Besides, I have already asked you to stop adding categories. Please stop.
Honestly, I do not remember promoting you to admin, but I do know I was the one who did it, mainly because I was inactive during that time and you were one of the active ones. I do not even remember having a conversation with you (not even a thanks after I have done it).. I hope I did not make a mistake. Also, you were considerably inactive for a while. Please conform with this wiki's rules or collaborate with us admins more, or I will have to demote you.
Do not act all high and mighty with me. We're both admin. And don't get all snippy because I have a life outside of Wiki. Also, something can be associated with the Nephilim without being a person. We both want the wiki to work; we just have different views on how to accompliish that. But you don't get to decide for everyone what to do.
But I do get a say in how to maintain this wiki. I appointed you admin, and at this point, I have to say that decision was made too hastily by me. I remember stopping her for a while and coming back and you were the one acting all high and mighty with me when I was asking about certain changes, and I simply let it go, thinking you have helped around the wiki as well.
I know it can be associated with other things, but obviously, at this point, Nephilim is used for people. Like I said, I plan on taking out either Nephilim or Shadowhunters because it tends to be too redundant. I would like the categories to stick with particulars.
Everyone has lives outside wiki. I was also quite inactive for a while during your appointment, so I'm not snippy about your inactivity; I was just pointing it out, just in case. No one is stopping us from having lives, but we happen to be admins.
I see you have been blocked on another wiki for adding categories that don't belong. I guess I'm not the only one complaining about your different views.
Oh okay. Well, I decided to change your color into green. Red makes it look like you're a non-existing page or something, and makes you sort of blend into the wikia, not stand out lol. :D
Hi Atticus. Can you try going to the Top Navigation editing page from the Admin board and see if you can edit it? I tried and, for some reason, the Publish button isn't visible. :\ So, yeah, I just wanna know if it's just an error I'm experiencing or not. Thanks :)
I thought of making a page in facebook about our wiki. What do you think?? I post a blog topic with more info and ideas about it with the same name. Read it if you want tell me your opinion.
I completely agree. Some pages are seen more then once under different names. There's pages like Tessa Gray. Then there's another like Theresa Gray. THEY'RE THE SAME PERSON! I delete them, but sometimes they are added again.
Hi. You won't mind the downgrade of protection of the pages, will you? I starteed with Isabelle Lightwood's so just undo it if you disagree, but if you do agree, please say so so we could do the otehrs as well. Let's just use the option of blocking the new and unregistered users from editing said pages so that others can edit the pages as well. :)
I kind of want to keep the editing to only members. Don't get me wrong. I would love for anyone to edit the wiki. But some pages life Isabelle and Simon have been deleted. I just don't want for the pages to be unprotected and then deleted.
